About thread lifts
What are tensor threads?
These are fine, absorbable threads, usually made of polydioxanone (PDO), which the doctor inserts under the skin to tighten and reposition tissues (lifting effect) and, at the same time, stimulate the production of new collagen. The body reabsorbs them over time while the generated collagen maintains the result. It is a non-surgical treatment.
Do PDO threads hurt?
It is a very well-tolerated procedure. Local anaesthetic is applied at the entry points, so discomfort during placement is minimal. In the following days, you may notice slight tightness or sensitivity, which will gradually subside.
Facial areas that can be treated with PDO threads include the jowls, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, cheeks, and the brow area. It is also possible to treat the neck, décolletage, and abdomen.
The most common areas are the cheeks and cheekbones, the oval and jawline contour, nasolabial folds and lip commissures, the neck and jowls with mild sagging, and the eyebrows for a slight lifting effect. The area and technique are defined during the consultation according to the degree of sagging.
Results and safety
How long do the tensor threads last?
The lifting effect is immediate, and collagen stimulation reaches its peak between 2 and 3 months. As a guideline, the result lasts between 12 and 18 months, depending on age, thread type, degree of sagging, and each person's metabolism. The treatment can be repeated to prolong the effect.
Are there side effects?
The most frequent effects are temporary and mild: slight swelling, tightness or small bruises at the injection sites for the first 48 hours. As with any medical procedure, it has indications and contraindications which the medical team assesses in each case to minimise risks.
Thread lifts or surgical facelift?
Thread lifts address mild to moderate sagging without surgery or downtime, with natural-looking results. When there is.
