What is it and who is it for?
What is an arm and leg lift?
This is the surgery that removes excess sagging skin from the arms (brachioplasty) and inner thighs (thigh lift) to achieve a firmer, more harmonious contour. It is common after significant weight loss or when skin loses firmness with age.
Is it indicated after losing a lot of weight?
Yes, it's one of the most frequent indications. After significant weight loss (diet, gastric balloon, or bariatric surgery), there's often loose skin on the arms and thighs that doesn't improve with diet or exercise; a lift is the solution to remove it and redefine the contour.
Do I need a facelift or liposuction?
That depends on whether the problem is fat, skin, or both. Liposuction removes localised fat but doesn't remove skin and requires good skin elasticity. When there's already excess sagging skin, a facelift is needed. The two techniques are often combined: first liposuction and then the removal of excess skin.
Scars, anaesthesia and recovery
Are there any scars left?
Yes, removing skin generates a scar. In a thigh lift, this is located in the groin fold, and in a brachioplasty, it is on the inner part of the arm. These locations keep it very discreet. Over time, the scar matures, flattens, and fades. Following the recommended aftercare will help it heal better.
How is the recovery?
Compression bandages and garments are used. Rest is advised for the first 24–48 hours; following a thigh lift, walking begins from the third day. Many daily activities can be resumed within a week, and returning to work usually occurs around 15 days. Full recovery is typically achieved between 3 and 4 weeks, with indicative timings that vary for each patient.
Is the result permanent?
The removal of excess skin is permanent, but the body continues to age and weight can fluctuate. Maintaining a stable weight and healthy habits helps preserve the results over time.
Price and areas
How much does an arm and leg lift cost in Girona?
There isn't a single price: it depends on the area to be treated (arms, thighs, or both), the extent of the surgery, and whether it is combined with liposuction. The price is personalised after a medical assessment, and you can look into financing options to spread the cost.
Do you see patients from outside Girona?
Yes. We regularly see patients from across the province of Girona and the Costa Brava (Salt, Figueres, Blanes, Lloret de Mar, Olot, Banyoles, Palafrugell, Sant Feliu de Guíxols...). If you are coming from further afield, we coordinate assessments and appointments by grouping them together whenever possible.
