The nutrition consultation
A nutritionist advises people on what to eat to lead a healthy life.
The dietitian-nutritionist assesses your diet and nutritional status and designs a personalised dietary intervention based on your health goals. They don't just provide a «diet»: they work on dietary re-education and habit change, with follow-up, so that you learn to eat healthily and sustainably.
What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?
Today, the official qualification is that of a dietitian-nutritionist, which encompasses both terms and qualifies one to assess nutritional status and design personalised dietary plans, including clinical nutrition. In common parlance, «dietitian» and «nutritionist» are used interchangeably; in our unit, you will be seen by a qualified healthcare professional.
Weight, results and tracking
How much weight will I lose?
We do not promise a specific number of kilos or definite timeframes: each person progresses differently depending on their starting point, health, and habits. Our goal is gradual, healthy, and sustainable weight loss, avoiding the yo-yo effect. During the consultation, we will set realistic goals with you.
How much is the consultation? Are there any discounts?
There isn't a single fee: it depends on your situation and whether you need a one-off consultation, ongoing follow-up, or support linked to other treatments. There are packages and per-session options depending on the type of follow-up, and the cost is finalised after the initial assessment. You can also explore financing options.
How often do I need to have check-ups?
The frequency is adapted to each individual. At the start of the change, reviews are usually more frequent to adjust the plan and resolve queries, and as you gain autonomy, they become spaced out. Close support is key to consolidating new habits.
Modality, pathologies and zones
Is the consultation in person or online?
We offer both options. You can attend in person at the clinic in the centre of Girona, and also have your consultation and follow-up online, which is very convenient if you live far away or for regular check-ups.
Does nutrition help with conditions like diabetes or cholesterol?
Yes, diet can be a significant support in situations such as diabetes or pre-diabetes, high cholesterol and triglycerides, hypertension, fatty liver, or metabolic syndrome. Nutritional intervention is always proposed as a complement to your doctor's treatment and monitoring, never as a substitute.
Do you see patients from outside Girona?
Yes. We regularly see patients from all over the province of Girona and the Costa Brava (Salt, Figueres, Blanes, Lloret de Mar, Olot, Banyoles, Palafrugell, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, etc.). Furthermore, online consultations make follow-up easier without the need for travel for those who live far away.
