What is it and how does it work
What is Botox, or botulinum toxin?
It is a neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for expression lines. By blocking the nerve signal that causes contraction, the skin stops folding and forehead lines, frown lines, and crow's feet are smoothed.
Does it leave the face stiff or expressionless?
Not when it's performed by a specialist doctor. The current technique aims for a serene and natural look, not a frozen face: negative expressions are relaxed while preserving expressiveness, such as a smile. The result depends on the design of the application.
What is the procedure
Does the treatment of expression lines hurt?
It's a quick and minimally invasive procedure. It's applied with extremely fine needles and most patients describe it as mild and perfectly tolerable discomfort. The session usually lasts about 20 minutes.
How long does the effect of Botox last?
As a guide, the effect lasts between 4 and 6 months, depending on each person's metabolism and the area treated. Afterwards, the muscle gradually regains its mobility and the treatment can be repeated.
How often does it need to be repeated?
It's usually repeated when the effect starts to wear off, typically every 4 to 6 months. Over time, many patients space out their sessions because the muscle becomes «re-educated». The doctor will guide you based on your progress.
Botox or filler, price and areas
Botox or filler? Which do I need?
It depends on the type of wrinkle. Botox is indicated for dynamic expression lines (forehead, frown lines, crow's feet); hyaluronic acid fillers are for static wrinkles and lines that remain when at rest. They are often combined. The medical team will determine this during the assessment.
How much does Botox cost in Girona?
There isn't a single price: it depends on the areas to be treated, the amount of product, and your goals. The price is personalised after a consultation, which is free and without obligation. You can also look into financing options.
Do you see patients from outside Girona?
Yes. We regularly receive patients from all over the province of Girona and the Costa Brava (Salt, Figueres, Blanes, Lloret de Mar, Olot, Banyoles, Palafrugell, Sant Feliu de Guíxols...). If you are coming from outside, we coordinate assessment and treatment on the same day whenever possible.
