About the facelift
Un lifting facial es un procedimiento quirúrgico cosmético que elimina el exceso de piel de la cara y el cuello para reducir los efectos visibles del envejecimiento, como la flacidez y las arrugas.
It is the ultimate facial rejuvenation procedure. It works on the face and neck, correcting deep wrinkles from the nose to the mouth, fat deposits in the neck and double chin, and sagging that blurs the jawline. It does not involve «stretching» the skin, but rather repositioning the facial structures that descend with age, maintaining a natural appearance.
When is a facelift done?
There is no exact age: what is decisive is that there is a clear indication of sagging and drooping. Even so, it is usually performed between the ages of 50 and 70. For initial sagging, a mini-facelift or non-surgical alternatives may suffice.
How long do the results of a facelift last?
A facelift doesn't stop ageing, but its effect lasts for years: the appearance will always be younger than if no intervention had been carried out. The duration depends on age, skin quality, and lifestyle. Combining it with maintenance aesthetic medicine treatments helps to prolong the result.
Surgery and recovery
Are there any visible scars?
The surgeon designs the incisions on the scalp, around the ears and following the natural hairline, so that the scars are disguised. Over time, they mature and fade. Following post-operative care and sun protection aids better scarring.
How is the recovery?
It is not usually a very painful procedure, and discomfort can be managed with painkillers. Bruising may occur and usually disappears within seven to ten days. It is recommended to keep the head elevated for the first few days. Some stitches are removed after a week, and those on the scalp later. The initial appearance does not reflect the final result.
Is there a facelift without surgery?
Yes. When sagging is mild or moderate, there are aesthetic medicine alternatives: tensor threads (reposition tissues and stimulate collagen), radiofrequency (tightens skin with controlled heat), and hyaluronic acid (replenishes volumes and fills wrinkles). Their scope is less than that of surgery, but they avoid hospitalisation and scars. The doctor will indicate the most appropriate approach in each case.
Price and areas
How much does a facelift cost in Girona?
There isn’t a single price: it depends on the technique (full facelift, mini-facelift, neck and jowls), whether it's combined with other procedures, and the complexity of the case. The price is personalised after an assessment, which is free and without obligation, and you can explore financing options.
Do you see patients from outside Girona?
Yes. We regularly receive patients from all over the province of Girona and the Costa Brava (Salt, Figueres, Blanes, Lloret de Mar, Olot, Banyoles, Palafrugell, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, etc.). If you are coming from further afield, we organise appointments and follow-ups to minimise your travel whenever possible.
