About the surgery and techniques
What is a mentoplasty and cheek augmentation?
Mentoplasty is surgery that augments, reshapes or repositions the chin to improve the facial profile; cheek augmentation (malar augmentation) adds volume and definition to the mid-face. Both procedures aim to harmonise features and balance the face with a natural result.
Is a prosthesis or hyaluronic acid filler better?
It depends on the degree of correction required. Hyaluronic acid fillers are ideal for mild cases, are non-surgical and reversible, but are temporary. Prosthesis (or graft) is indicated for more significant or permanent corrections, offering a structural, stable, and long-lasting result. The surgeon will guide you during the consultation.
Can it be combined with a non-surgical nose job or rhinoplasty?
Yes. Chin and cheekbone surgery is often combined with rhinoplasty or other facial surgeries to harmonise the overall profile in a single surgical procedure. In mild cases, it can also be complemented with non-surgical nose reshaping. The surgeon will assess this during your consultation.
What is the procedure
Are there any visible scars?
Usually not. When a chin implant is placed intraorally (inside the mouth), the incision is hidden and leaves no scar on the skin. If the submental route (under the chin) is used, the incision is small and very discreet, located in a natural crease.
How is the recovery?
It's usually quick: in two to three days you can return to your usual life, with a phase of inflammation that can last several weeks. The result is immediate, but it's considered final after the inflammation subsides, usually from one to two months onwards.
Is the result permanent?
Mentoplasty with prostheses, malar augmentation with prostheses or grafts, and bony genioplasty offer stable and long-lasting results over time. The hyaluronic acid option, on the other hand, is temporary and requires periodic touch-ups.
Price, results and areas
How much does chin and cheek surgery cost in Girona?
There isn't a single price: it depends on the technique (chin prosthesis, malar augmentation, bone genioplasty), whether one or both areas are operated on, combination with other surgery, and the type of anaesthetic. The price is personalised after a free, no-obligation consultation, and you can explore financing options.
Do you see patients from outside Girona?
Yes. We regularly receive patients from all over the province of Girona and the Costa Brava (Salt, Figueres, Blanes, Lloret de Mar, Olot, Banyoles, Palafrugell, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, etc.). If you are coming from further afield, we coordinate assessments, surgery and check-ups by grouping appointments whenever possible.
