About AMI technique
What is the AMI breast augmentation technique?
This is a minimal incision inframammary breast augmentation. The implant is placed through a small incision of between 2 and 5 cm in the natural crease beneath the breast, using a device that provides precision and control throughout the procedure.
What are the advantages of the AMI technique compared to the classic one?
The difference lies in the surgical approach, not in the prosthesis. The inframammary minimal incision approach aims for smaller and more discreet scars, less tissue manipulation and a faster recovery, with a lower risk of capsular contracture and infection.
How is the scar with the AMI technique?
The scar is discreet because the incision is small (2-5 cm) and is hidden in the inframammary fold, under the breast. For this reason, it is barely visible even when the chest is uncovered. Like any scar, it matures over the months and its appearance also depends on the patient's skin.
Surgery, prosthesis and recovery
How is the recovery after AMI technique?
It's an outpatient surgery: after a few hours the patient goes home the same day. For the first 24-48 hours there is a feeling of tightness; many patients resume their normal lives in 3-4 days. The stitches are removed after a week and exercise is gradually resumed around a month later.
What types of prostheses are used with the AMI technique?
Round prostheses, in different sizes and profiles, and ergonomic prostheses, which adapt to body positions for a natural result, can be used. The surgeon chooses the implant according to the patient's measurements and anatomical characteristics, and the desired breast shape.
How long do breast implants last?
Current prostheses.
Price and areas
How much does breast augmentation with the AMI technique cost?
There isn't a fixed price: it depends on the type of prosthesis, the complexity of the case, tests, anaesthetic and check-ups. The price is personalised after an assessment, which is free of charge and without obligation. You can also look into financing options.
Do you see patients from outside Girona?
Yes. We regularly see patients from all over the province of Girona and the Costa Brava (Salt, Figueres, Blanes, Lloret de Mar, Olot, Banyoles, Palafrugell, Sant Feliu de Guíxols...). If you are coming from further afield, we coordinate assessments, surgery and check-ups to facilitate your travel.
