Effective from day one

Year-end review

Without anaesthesia or endoscopy

How does it work

You are a gastric balloon that is swallowed through the mouth with a little water; it's a capsule containing the balloon and attached to a thin catheter. This catheter will later be used to introduce the inflating liquid. The catheter is removed once the balloon is filled with 550cc of purified water.

As the process is not endoscopic, we do not require any type of anaesthetic to insert the balloon, only radiological monitoring to verify its correct implantation.

Who is it for?

The ELIPSE Ingestible Balloon is intended for patients who wish to lose between 10 and 15 kilograms. For patients who wish to lose more, a different type of procedure is recommended.

After 16 weeks, the balloon gradually disintegrates and is naturally eliminated, along with the balloon material and the liquid it contains, therefore, it does not require removal, an endoscopic procedure, or sedation.

FAQs about elliptical balloons

How are the first few days?

In the first few days, just like with traditional balloons, you might feel discomfort or nausea, which will disappear in a short time.

We recommend a liquid diet for the first three days and to incorporate solid foods as the patient's discomfort subsides.

Our Nutrition Team starts working with the patient by establishing healthy eating habits. During the 16 weeks the balloon is in the stomach, they will gradually lose weight.

This monitoring is carried out over one year.
