The accumulation of fat in the abdomen is bothersome, for both men and women; for many people, having a belly is one of the most unaesthetic features.
The way men accumulate it is the dreaded spare tire; in women it is more common on the hips and thighs.
To achieve a flat abdomen, we all know what we have to do: a balanced diet and exercise that burns excess calories. But sometimes we fail to lose anything, precisely from the abdomen, or on the contrary it is a great success and the fat loss leaves us with laxity that is difficult or impossible to recover.
Many enquiries about this subject reach our clinic, and after assessing our patient we propose the appropriate aesthetic solution, abdominoplasty or liposuction.
When there is only fat, liposuction is the simplest solution: we remove the fat through fine cannulas (they barely leave a mark), connected to a suction device, effectively eliminating all the accumulated fat; we can also work on several areas at once, which allows us to shape the silhouette effectively.
The result is effective, permanent and fast; no other technique offers this result today. If we do not want to be so “drastic”, aesthetic medicine also offers effective solutions such as “fat-burning” intralipotherapy, which has to be done once a month for about two or three months, depending on the amount of fat we want to eliminate.
But if there is laxity and the muscle has lost its tone and the skin its firmness, giving a soft appearance, the solution is abdominoplasty.
This technique treats the three aspects that can give volume to an abdomen: fat, skin and muscle. This procedure requires epidural or general anesthesia, the scar is at the level of the pubis and its length depends on the amount of skin we want to remove; the result is a flat abdomen, without fat and without muscle distension.
