Why do we age?

Why do we age?

The human being is designed to age. It is a biological process in which, besides genetic factors, environmental factors and unhealthy lifestyle habits play a part, responsible for accelerating ageing.

Among all the changes brought about by the passing of the years, those of the skin are the most visible sign of ageing. The evidence of advancing age includes wrinkles and sagging skin. With ageing, the outer layer of the skin (epidermis) becomes thinner,

There are three main manifestations of skin ageing in general. Each one affects the appearance of the face in a different way:

  • Wrinkles
  • Pèrdua de volum
  • Pèrdua de densitat

As your body ages, your skin begins to show visible signs of aging. The skin around the eyes is very thin, so wrinkles, fine lines and thinning are more noticeable in this area.

Youth is characterized by a clear, smooth, direct and lively gaze. This clarity of the gaze is gradually lost with the inexorable passing of time, through excess growth of skin on the upper eyelids, the appearance of fatty “bags” on the lower eyelids, or wrinkles such as crow’s feet, which darken and saddens the expression of the gaze. In some cases the excess skin is so significant that the field of vision can be compromised.

When the skin becomes thin, the eyelids look loose and drooping

Over time, the tissues around the eye age, the skin becomes looser and tends to droop, giving our gaze a sad and tired appearance. Blepharoplasty is the surgery that corrects excess skin and bags around the eyes, on both the upper and lower eyelids. Through this surgery we rejuvenate the gaze.

For each of these aspects, Aesthetic Medicine and Aesthetic Surgery offer very good results. At our clinic, anti-ageing treatments are always assessed from a very comprehensive point of view, advising each patient on the best solution and the best result in each case.
