What is post-bariatric surgery?

Post-bariatric surgery is a set of procedures that will give the
patient smooth skin and an attractive contour.

The main goal is to rebuild and reposition tissues to achieve body harmony.
The areas that may be affected by this massive weight loss can be: the abdomen, the buttocks, the thighs, the arms and the breasts.

It is very important to determine, together with the bariatric surgeon, the ideal time to carry out these procedures; it is important that the
patient has reached their target weight and that at least one year has passed.

Instructions

Post-bariatric surgery is indicated after severe weight loss, when the patient may be left with excess skin, sagging and localized fat deposits.

These procedures are performed by our team of plastic surgeons, and they always mean an improvement in the patient's quality of life and a significant gain in
quality of life through the recovery of the patient's aesthetic confidence.

The most important post-bariatric surgeries:

Abdominoplasty: the abdominal area is normally the one with the highest incidence in post-bariatric surgery, as it is skin that is more distended and prone to
stretch marks.
The result of this procedure is a flat abdomen.

Thigh lift or Thigh lift (cruroplasty): this is a surgery that aims to tighten the thigh tissue, specifically the excess skin on the inner side. It can be a problem for patients in summer, because these skin excesses, combined with excessive sweating, cause skin problems,
irritation and sores when walking… That is why it is one of the typical procedures for patients with significant weight loss.

Mammoplasty and mastopexy: This is another problem area, especially in women, although it is also possible in men: the breasts.
This post-bariatric surgery usually focuses on removing the remaining fat or the breast tissue and/or skin (mammoplasty) and, in addition, lifting the breasts
(mastopexy); in women, these procedures can be combined with breast implants.

In the case of men, if the degree of sagging is significant, skin must be resected to leave the area without sagging,
which is what we call Gynaecomastia.

Brachioplasty or arm lift: the skin on the inner side of the arms has a limited ability to retract
after significant weight loss. This is what is known as “bat wings”

This lift removes all the excess skin, fitting it to the muscles of the arm.
